Bet on sports. lol.
I’m not usually a gambling man, but when an opportunity arises that I feel the odds are stacked in my favor, I never hesitate. So earlier today, when an officemate was asking whether there’s anyone interested to bet on the UEFA Champion’s League quarterfinal clash between Liverpool & Chelsea with the latter being given a one goal advantage, I didn’t hesitate to volunteer.
Liverpool is no slouch in the football field this year. Every game they played this week showed that they are one of the teams to beat. Chelsea on the other hand has been well, a shadow of their 2008 self. I do know however that buried deep inside that team’s heart lies the courage of real contenders. I would never have thought of betting if there were no handicaps involved. Liverpool after all comes into the game brimming with confidence and Chelsea, well there has to be some sort of hesitation on their part. But the advantage given to Chelsea was too much I think. They’re not exactly a pushover team. They know how to win. So with full confidence, I accepted the bet, crossed the fingers and watched the game.
I almost choked when Liverpool got the first goal at 6 minutes into the game. I thought Chelsea was a goner. But the winning heart I knew the team has came into play. When the smoke cleared Chelsea won 3-1, and I earned myself an easy P1,000 in less than 2 hours.
I probably won’t be betting again. It’s a bad thing if you make a habit out of it. Besides I don’t think the boys in the office would think so little of Chelsea again.
Just a little caution should you indulge yourself into gambling though. Be sure to bet only what you can afford to lose. And more importantly, don’t bet what you don’t have.
