These days, this mercenary blogger can barely update his blogs. It’s the quarter end, and any self-respecting finance related employee can tell you how busy this time of the year is. I’ve been working 16 hour days and averaging only 4 hours of sleep everyday. It’s a good thing that the quarter cycle only lasts a week or two otherwise my dreams of corporate emancipation will go down the pipes.

Unless you’re some big shot super affiliate or blogger, you really cannot quit your work just yet. Especially if your day job pays really good. Still, for those of us who believe that they’re not cut out to be 9 – 5′rs, this is still not good enough.

But in the meantime, you have to bear with me while I focus my attention to that activity that puts food on my table– an actual day job.

Oh well. Later then.

I’ve been neglecting this blog for a couple of weeks now. Let’s just say I’ve been busy with other money-making activities. But as you can see, this blog is no longer in blogger so dear blogger friends, blogger followers, and what nots, I am sorry I just had to leave that platform. As I said, if you’ve somehow gone over those little technical stuff, you need to haul your ass over to wordpress. There are certain advantages to wordpress that blogger can only dream about.
[ad#468link]
But still, money is money. You don’t have to be in wordpress to earn money. Go where you’re comfortable. Whatever floats your boat as they say.

I just had to move to wordpress because, well, I am already very familiar with it and I can see the advantages. Also, I am consolidating my blogs in one host. And you know, I’ve been promoting ipower.com’s hosting services and it would be hypocritical of me not to patronize what I’ve been preaching. I did get the unlimited hosting plan, so I have a lot of storage with ipower which allows me to host all of my blogs in one place.

Nevertheless, whether you’re in blogger or in wordpress, it’s not really a big deal. A dollar earned in wordpress is not worth more than the dollar you earn in blogger.
[ad#468x60]
Hopefully I’ll be posting regularly here now and will be sharing with you some more money saving tips and some income generating leads.

I’ve you’ve noticed my subtitle above, that’s what I hope to use all my earnings in blogging on. I’ve wanted to have a bimmer for the longest time. I know I can’t afford a brand new bimmer but with time, I should be able to afford a second hand BMW. If you’re that rich and you have a bimmer lying around, you could always give it to me so I can retire from blogging. Lol.

I’ll have a more sensible post next time. So there.

PS If you want to exchange links and you’re blog’s targeted towards anything resembling money making, shoot me a note. I’ll be happy to exchange links with you. Ta!

I am temporarily putting on hold my online money making efforts. A lot of things are happening all at once that getting a few dollars and cents fell way below my priority list. Right now it’s all about making sense of what’s happening around me.

Hopefully by the time I get my head out of the water, a lot more online money making opportunities will have made their presence felt all over the internet. I will then be waiting, a club and a fishing net in both hands, drool dripping from my lips.

Ciao!

I’ve been reading a lot about affiliate programs and internet marketing. It seems those who were most successful in this game are either selling something that they’ve created, or are selling somebody else’s product. It makes me wonder whether there’s any form of internet success outside of selling something.

Looking at their infomercials though or their schticks, it seems most of these guys appeal to their readers’ natural sense of greed. Of course people would respond when you present a lot of testimonials on how helpful the product being promoted is and how their lives have changed because of it and how much money they were making.

I have to admit when I read my first squeeze page, I was tempted to reach for my plastic. But I tried reading some other sales pitches and it seems the same message is being repeated over and over again. This product is gonna change your life, its gonna make you rich, blah blah blah.

They kinda remind me of that home shopping network “THESE PRODUCTS CAN BE HAD FOR A SPECIAL PRICE OF ONLY $XXX! BUT IF YOU ORDER NOW, WE WILL GIVE YOU AN 8O% DISCOUNT! AND NOT ONLY THAT, WE’LL EVEN THROW IN A BLENDER FOR FREE!!!”

I let go of my wallet when I started laughing. Surely there are better ways to sell a product. I’m not sure if these folks notice, and I’m also not sure if everyone is feeling this, but the moment I see a squeeze page, I can’t help but feel I’m being conned. But that’s just me.

I guess I will have to leave affiliate marketing alone for now. Maybe when I get a few bucks off my low hanging fruits and I can afford to purchase some of those very promising products, perhaps then I can start. But for now, my battle-cry will still be:

To dollars and cents!

Launching a new blog is not that difficult. All you have to do is publish your first post. What’s difficult is getting people to know that your blog exists. When you’re on a shoestring budget like me, there are very few opportunities to really create a big splash from the get go. But that’s alright. As a new blog, there’s not much money making programs that I can participate in anyway.

Generally, it would take three (3) months for a blog to start paying for itself. Three months because of the time restrictions that most programs require for new blogs to join. Some would even require at least 20 posts on top of the blog being in existence for at least three months.

Actually this is a good thing, at least for me. I started this blog right after Google’s latest PR update. This means that I will have enough time to establish some credibility and get some PR in the next round of updates. I need to ensure that I get a really good PR from the get go because I intend to lose it 3 months after. I’ll be doing a lot of stuff that Google is not really pleased about so I’m almost certain that as soon as I get that PR which usually opens some exclusive doors, I am gonna lose it.

I still have three months to go, I just hope that I put those three months to good use.

Now that this blog is properly named and christened, it’s time to do the necessary cosmetics to set it right. Perhaps you’re starting your own blog just like me, so here’s the to-do list for starters.

Select the necessary template

Set-up adsense

Activate those advertising links

Optimize the site. See bullets down below:

Create backlinks

Build sub-sites; hubb, squidoo lens

Entrecard! I think this is very important

Create a stumble page!

Enroll in social media sites. Mybloglog, Blogcatalog, Bumpzee, Fuel My Blog, etc.

Post everyday!

The rest to follow.

Optimization tasks:

On-site optimization. i.e. setting up meta tags and title tags

Directory submissions. Not sure though if Google will automatically list this blog since the domain was bought from their site. Don’t really care, I will still submit this site to directory engines.

Welcome to mercenary blogger, a blog solely dedicated to making money off the net!

Here you will find the easiest way to make money online. We’re not talking about big bucks here(but who knows?), just enough pocket change that jingle while you walk. I will go out on a limb to earn a dollar or two and hopefully, if you take this journey with me, you could somehow learn a thing or two.

But who is the mercenary blogger? Oh you know, I’m just one of those guys trying to augment their income and hoping against hope that they do. I like the internet so much I can live in it.

So how about it, wanna join me in this quest?

To dollars and cents!
